Cancelling, and what happens to your data

Last updated 14 July 2026

How to cancel your 8Deploy account, what to do before you go, and exactly how long we keep your data afterwards.

You can cancel at any time, and there is no exit fee and no notice period to serve.

What cancelling does is stop the next renewal. Your sites keep running to the end of the term you have already paid for, and we do not bill you again. We do not refund the unused part of a term that has already started, so if you are close to a renewal date it is worth checking which side of it you are on.

If you are leaving because something is not working, tell us first at support@8deploy.com. There is a fair chance we can fix it.

Before you cancel: download your data

Do this first. Go to Backups and download a full backup: your files, your databases, your mailboxes. Save it somewhere you control.

This is the important part of this article, so it is worth being blunt about why. After your account is closed, we keep your data for 30 days and then delete it permanently and irreversibly. There is no copy after that, anywhere. If you have not downloaded a backup by then, the data is gone and nobody can bring it back.

Also do this before you cancel

Cancelling

  1. Go to Billing in your panel.
  2. Choose Cancel plan.
  3. Confirm.

What happens then

Within those 30 days, you can change your mind. Reactivate the account and everything comes back. After 30 days, there is nothing to come back to.

Your domain is yours

Cancelling with us does not affect your domain. It is registered in your name with your registrar and it stays there. Point it wherever you like.

Refunds

If you have paid annually and you are cancelling part way through, email support@8deploy.com and we will discuss it with you.

Still stuck?

The assistant in your control panel can see your actual account and answer about your sites, your plan and your usage. For anything else, email support@8deploy.com and a person will answer.
